Why Does My Child Need Chiropractic Care?

We put an emphasis on a baby’s nervous system, starting from the time they are in their mother’s belly. A mother’s state of stress directly affects the developing baby. The birth process itself is a traumatic event due to pressure on the neck, C1 and C2 vertebrae, and the Vagus nerve of the baby. These structures play an important role in the control of bodily systems.

That’s why chiropractic care from birth is so important. Sixty- five percent of the brain’s development occurs during the first year of life. Unresolved issues hinder a baby’s growth and ability to thrive as they are designed to do. Stress can continue to accumulate until it becomes overwhelming and milestones will not be met. Our goal is to place importance on Chiropractic care from birth to prevent that from happening.

The Importance of Care for your Child

Many have heard, “they will grow out of it.” Kids do not grow out of anything, they just present it in different ways. A child who does not sleep or poop, may grow to have chronic ear infections and get sick easily. Maybe the child will develop sensory issues and has trouble focusing. Then growing into a child that is going to be depressed, angry, and anxious all the time.

Our goal is to help parents understand that chiropractic is so much more than just coming in for symptom relief. It gives children the capacity to adapt to different changes as they grow older, and their bodies change.

What to Expect

Many parents don’t know how big chiropractic is, how much the nervous system controls, and how calming down the nervous system can have such a big impact on their child’s life. In addition to our standard new practice member process, we do a Tytron scan which measures inflammation in the body. X-rays begin when the child is about five or six. Dr. Paola also does primitive reflex testing on all children.

Adjustment techniques will vary with age, but all are extremely gentle, no twisting, popping or cracking. For our youngest, we use more sustained contact.

Some issues we help include:

  • Constipation
  • Colic
  • Reflux
  • Chronic ear infections
  • Latching and breastfeeding challenges
  • Sleep issues
  • Sensory issues
  • Immunity struggles
  • Delayed developmental milestones
